An update on my daughter’s blog (three years and waiting) but I’m so proud of her. I can’t wait to here her perform again.
Well, started this blog 3 years ago, posted 3 times, and became so busy with school and performing I forgot I even had a blog. Now that I am done with school, yay I have a Master Degree!, my life is less hectic. Let’s get too it and walk down memory lane.
The first year of my Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy:
UNT Opera auditions/season: Romeo et Juliette by Gounod and Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan. I was most interested in auditioning for Stephano in Romeo and Juliette, so I learned his aria “Que fais-tu? blanche tourturelle” http://youtu.be/xmNj-HTI-Wg . The audition went pretty well. I was not cast as Stephano, those cast were much better fits. I was cast as Bradamante in a scene from Handel’s Alcina, and to this day that music has been some of the most challenging I have ever had…
